Discovering the best swimsuit for your preferences can be tricky. Whether you’re looking for a functional one-piece that’ll stay in place while you surf or a sexy bikini for your next romantic vacation, we’re here to help you find your next beloved swimsuit in your search.
I’ve personally tested most of the brands on this list and I can’t recommend the Plungey by TA3 enough. The suit has corset-like straps on the back that pull you in and snatch your waist. It’s kind of incredible how much the suits help you achieve an hourglass figure — and make for the best beach Instagram photos you’ll ever take.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, I am obsessed with the classic square-neck one-piece from Hunza G. The ultra-stretchy seersucker fabric is one-size-fits-all and is the perfect piece for days lounging by the pool. It’s so comfortable that I’ve dubbed it the sweatpants of swimsuits.
We’ve rounded up suits for every preference — from the best high-waisted bikinis to the best underwire swimsuits for great support, to the best one-piece swimsuits with features that range from cut-outs to compression.
Here are our picks for the best places to shop for swimsuits in 2023:
Best overall: Summersalt
If you’ve seen everyone on your Instagram feed wearing a one-shoulder, color-blocked one-piece, there’s a good chance that it’s the iconic Sidestroke swimsuit from Summersalt. This ultra-popular swimsuit has 4.5 stars and over six thousand reviews on the website, with reviewers raving about how comfortable it is and how flattering the diagonal colorblocking and seaming is.
But that’s just one piece in Summersalt’s impressive and quality-focused swimsuit line. Insider did a full review of Summersalt’s swim collection and we loved nearly everything we tried.

Best for being active: Andie
Andie’s is a great place to pick the best swimsuits for practicality and quality. They’re famous for their simple cuts, and thoughtfully-designed pieces. It’s an excellent option for people all about beach volleyball, kayaking, and hopping on a board. You won’t find any thong bikinis or daring cut-outs with Andie, but you will find pieces that last you many washes, are exceedingly functional, and come in fabric designed to be comfortable and supportive.

Best sculpting: TA3
If you’re looking for a suit that doubles as shapewear, then TA3 is a great bet for finding the best women’s swimsuits. The shaping swimsuits by TA3 have gone incredibly viral on TikTok, with the hashtag amassing over 30 million views. The thing that sets these swimsuits apart from other brands is the unique tie-back that cinches in your waist.
The back of these swimsuits looks a little like the back of a corset, with criss-cross ties that keep the suit secure and emphasize the smallest part of your waist. We tried a few styles of TA3 suits and it was pretty amazing how effective the shaping aspect was. Plus, it’s one of the best swimsuits for large busts that we’ve found.

Best for large busts: Hermoza
Hermoza is the perfect brand for swimsuits that are relatively modest, yet still stylish. They have vintage-inspired picks like belted one-pieces, high-waisted bottoms, and halters with waist ties. Personally, I love wearing this brand for family-centric events in the summer where I don’t want to be showing too much skin, even if I’m in a bikini. But the pieces are so cute that I wear them to beach days with friends. The Becca Top and Lauren Bottom in Sea Pink even got me tons of compliments when I wore them in Positano, a luxury swimwear haven.
As a person with a larger bust size and smaller band size, I really appreciated how these pieces fit me. The lining is both taut and comfortable, so it holds you in but you still feel comfortable sitting and lounging. They have a whole section for DD+ cup sizes, but the pieces I have didn’t even come from that line and they still make me feel secure and supported.
-
Hermoza’s Becca top is supportive enough to flatter large chest sizes and comes with removable pads.
-
This supportive, square-neck bikini top is also available in pink, blue, and black.
-
The high waist and the belt on this bikini bottom are perfect for snatching your waist in vintage style.
-
We love how this swimsuit is fully lined for maximum smoothing and security.
Best sexy: Frankie’s Bikinis
Frankie’s Bikinis is the ultimate it-girl brand. Their spokespeople include major trendsetters like Gigi Hadid and Sydney Sweeney who have rocked the brand’s string bikinis and daring one-pieces in hyperfeminine prints like daisy pond.
Though Frankie’s is one of the hottest swimsuit brands on the market right now, it might not be the best option for people who want a lot of support or are worried about their swimsuits being too revealing. I own one of their old string bikini styles — and though the top is incredibly cute and I get lots of compliments, I don’t wear the bottoms very often because of how tiny the coverage area is. Still, that makes it an excellent choice for a bachelorette trip to Miami or a sexy romantic getaway.
-
This sweet daisy-printed bikini has a sexy silhouette that belies the super cute fabric.
-
This thong bikini is the perfect piece for a tropical location like Hawaii or the Bahamas.
-
We love the red gingham print on this cutout one-piece that’s picnic blanket chic.
-
While you may not want to wear a bandeau top surfing, think of all the cute beach pics you can get in this.
Best with bra sizing: Cuup
We love Cuup’s bras and they recently came out with a line of some of the best women’s swimsuits. Cuup is the perfect place to go if you want underwire bikini tops that are available in your exact bra size. These tops range from 30AA to 44H, while the bottoms come in sizes XS to XXXL.
Right now Cuup only offers three types of tops — a balconette, a plunge, and a scoop neck. Likewise, their bottom selection is limited to a cheeky bikini cut, a mid-rise, and a high-rise. But what they lack in variety they make up for in quality and exact sizing options.
See our review of Cuup’s plunge bra, an additional silhouette in their swimwear collection.

They even have a special section for ultra-supportive tops designed for large busts.

-

-
Feel like you’ve just won first place in this shiny gold number.
Most comfortable: Hunza G
Most of Hunza G’s swimsuits are made from their signature seersucker material that is textured and super stretchy. In fact, they’re so stretchy that their swimsuits are one-size-fits-most. The flattering fabric is also comfortable and thick enough to stay put throughout the day.
I love wearing my Hunza G swimsuit on chill pool days when I know I’m going to spend most of my time reading, snacking, and generally relaxing. They’re like the sweatpants of swimsuits — stretchy, light, and absolutely no constriction. They would even make a great maternity suit since their material could definitely accommodate a baby bump.

Best splurge: Solid & Striped
Solid & Striped is on the pricier side, but the artful designs make these pieces look super unique and luxurious. This is one of the best places to shop for swimsuits if you’re a bit daring since some pieces in this line lean more toward the sexy — like this ultra high-cut one-piece and this crochet string bikini. In addition, they have a robust selection of cute cover-ups.

Best fit: Helen Jon
Most brands use fit models who wear only the smallest sizes to construct their garments. This means that most of what you buy is made for the proportions of a literal model. But not Helen Jon. They fit their swimsuits on their own employees, so that each piece is made for the proportions of a normal, non-model. So if you’re wondering why these suits fit amazingly well, you’ve got your answer.
